London Transport Museumtickets and tips

3 things worth shouting about:

  1. It’s jam-packed with (you guessed it) transport objects. Vehicles. Timetables. Wheels. Horns. Everything that’s helped Londoners get around for the past 200-odd years.
  2. Good news - all under 18s go free!
  3. The building’s beautiful. It’s in Covent Garden, with the National Gallery and British Museum nearby.

London Transport Museum tips and tricks

"Try the train driving simulator!"

Brilliant for transport fans my favourite museum in London!! Look out for the train driving simulator were you get the chance to experience what a day might be like for an Elizabeth Line train driver.

Tracy says

"If you want a proper look around go on a weekday"

If you want a proper look around, go on a weekday when the kids are at school. It can get pretty busy with kids running around otherwise.

What to expect at London Transport Museum

Barn door buses. Pogo Cars. And 150,000 other transport things that are a bit less weird.

For every great transport idea, there are ten bad ones that are usually more exciting to look at. And the London Transport Museum has plenty of vehicles that look like they were dreamed up by Homer Simpson after eating Guatemalan Insanity Peppers.

But it also has the regular exhibits that are pretty cool too – like horse-drawn omnibuses, London Underground trains and vintage red double-deckers.

There are around 150,000 things to marvel at in total, all split up into different exhibits that each tell a different story. Take a look back to the first half of the 20th century at On The Surface (1900-1945) where you’ll find trams, trolleybuses and the first motor buses, before going full steam ahead into the future at Future Engineers which tests your skills solving modern day engineering problems. Get your London Transport Museum tickets here!

All Aboard is a favourite with the little ones, with its mini vehicles for kids aged 0-7 to play in, while Legacies: London Transport’s Caribbean Workforce celebrates the huge contribution that people of Caribbean heritage have made to British transport.

There’s something for everyone at the London Transport Museum. Just keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times.
