About Trinity County Historical Society

The Trinity County Historical Society operates the Jake Jackson Museum in Weaverville, preserving the region's heritage from indigenous peoples through gold miners and pioneers. Visitors explore historical displays including a section of the original jail, period fashion, and a working blacksmith shop. The museum grounds feature a carriage house and one of the few operational steam-powered stamp mills remaining in the United States. The Alice Jones History Center, also operated by the society, houses an extensive archive of historical documents, photographs, and records documenting Trinity County's past. The museum store offers locally made gifts and publications reflecting the community's history. The Jake Jackson Museum and Hall Goodyear History Park provide spaces for research and public learning about the region's colorful history.
