The Lake Tahoe Historical Museum in South Lake Tahoe preserves local history through exhibits, historic structures, and guided experiences. Visitors explore the Osgood Toll House, the oldest standing commercial building in South Lake Tahoe, as well as a historic log cabin and pioneer cemetery on the museum grounds. The museum offers walking tours including the Al Tahoe History tour, which guide visitors through historic areas. The Lake Tahoe Historical Society hosts events throughout the year, including Fireside Chats and children's History Camps. The museum's bookstore stocks books on Lake Tahoe history along with DVDs, CDs, postcards, and children's historic souvenirs. The Tahoe Tree Ring Project is also featured. Children's programs are available, and the museum operates the Al Tahoe History walking tour with additional historic walking tour areas in development.
