For website owners

Our crawler and your photos

If you run an attraction’s website you may have seen daysout-us-bot in your logs. This page says what it does, how to stop it, and how to have a photograph or a listing taken down.

Who is asking

The crawler belongs to DaysOut, operated by Digital Rewards Group Limited, the company named in our privacy policy. Every request it makes carries this identity:

User-Agent: daysout-us-bot/1.0 (+https://daysout.com/bot)

Some pages need a browser to render before they can be read. Those are fetched for us by Firecrawl, a hosted browser service, so the request can arrive from Firecrawl’s servers rather than ours.

What it reads, and how often

It reads an attraction’s own website and nothing else: the admission price, opening hours, any saving the attraction is offering, the ticket page, and one photograph. Listings are re-read on a rolling schedule so that a price or an offer that has changed is corrected or withdrawn, and the date of the last read is printed on the listing. It never reads a reseller, a coupon site or a review platform.

Before any page is fetched the crawler reads your robots.txt and obeys it, both the rules written for daysout-us-bot and the rules written for everyone. It asks any one website for at most one page every three seconds.

How to block it

Add this to your robots.txt. The crawler will stop at its next visit and your listing stays as it was last read:

User-agent: daysout-us-bot
Disallow: /

To have the listing removed as well, or to block the crawler without editing robots.txt, email admin@daysout.com with the address of the page on DaysOut.

Where the photographs come from

Each attraction page shows one photograph, taken from that attraction’s own website, with the line “Photo from the venue’s own site” beneath it and a link to the site. We keep a copy on our own image host so your server is not asked for it every time the page loads. Nothing is taken from Google, review platforms or stock libraries, and we never show a generated image as a photograph.

The photograph remains yours, or your photographer’s. We show it so that families can recognise your attraction and go to your website, and we take it down on request.

Have a photograph or a listing removed

Email admin@daysout.com with the subject line “Remove” and:

  • the address of the page on DaysOut;
  • the address of the page on your own site the photograph or text came from;
  • whether you want the photograph removed, the whole listing removed, or the crawler kept off your site.

We act on it and reply by email. A removed photograph is also marked so that the crawler does not collect it again on a later visit.
