About Eaton House Museum

The Behrens-Eaton Museum in Redding preserves a Victorian home from 1895, offering visitors a glimpse into life during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Guests explore period furnishings and artifacts collected by four generations of the Behrens and Eaton families, with items dating back to the mid-1800s that document local history. The museum features an extensive collection of Victorian and vintage clothing, including Edna Eaton's elaborate wedding dress and Judge Eaton's childhood suits, as well as examples of corsets, top hats, bonnets, and bustles typical of the era. A dedicated military section displays artifacts from World War I and World War II, reflecting Judge Eaton's lifelong interest in military history and his service as an Army Captain and Major in North Africa, Italy, and Germany. The museum also maintains a library housing historical data and photographs. The collection and exhibits are designed to help schoolchildren and citizens of Shasta County learn about the region's past.
