About Gateway Science Museum

Gateway Science Museum in Chico features the traveling exhibit Dinosaurs: Fossils Exposed, where visitors touch full skeletal replicas of a Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Velociraptor, along with replica skulls, arms, legs, eggs, and footprints. Dig boxes let budding paleontologists unearth dinosaur bones using real tools. The museum also maintains Gateway Gardens, a permanent exhibit of native and edible plants with student projects and wildlife habitat. Saturday activities change monthly and include nebula spins, chemistry demonstrations, stomp rockets, and battery-building sessions. Self-guided class visits run Thursday and Friday mornings at five dollars per person or a flat rate. Visitors receiving SNAP food assistance benefits pay three dollars admission with an EBT card and valid photo ID, up to four people per card. Gateway Science Museum operates Thursday through Saturday in Chico, with admission prices published on csuchico.edu.
