Stansbury Home, Chico

About Stansbury Home

Stansbury Home offers guided tours of a Victorian mansion built by Dr. Oscar Stansbury in 1883, with visitors walking through the historic house interior room displays of the 10-room residence. Tours run Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm, requiring no advance reservation—arrivals five minutes early suffice. The Stansbury Home Preservation Association maintains the property, which the City of Chico acquired in 1976 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors explore an Italianate Victorian structure designed by Sacramento architect A.A. Cook, featuring molded windows with carved rosettes, angled bay windows, fluted columns, and bracketed cornices. The home also hosts seasonal events including an annual Ice Cream Social and Victorian Christmas celebration. Admission costs five dollars for adults and three dollars for children ages 5 through 12; children under 5 enter free. The museum accepts cash only. Located at the corner of Fifth and Salem streets in Chico, California, the Stansbury Home publishes its pricing at thestansburyhome.com.
