About Gold Nugget Museum
The Gold Nugget Museum in Paradise preserves the history of the Paradise Ridge and the 1859 discovery of the 54-pound Dogtown Nugget in local rivers. Visitors view current exhibits reflecting the area's past as a mining community and its indigenous Maidu heritage. The modernized six-thousand-square-foot facility, rebuilt after the 2018 Camp Fire, also houses the Paradise Gem and Mineral Club. The museum has historically hosted Days of Living History events where students experienced life in the 1850s and 1860s. General admission is free, though donations are accepted. The museum is located in Paradise, California. NARM members receive free admission to the Gold Nugget Museum and other NARM-member museums across the country, according to goldnuggetmuseum.org.
