About Point Cabrillo Light Station

Point Cabrillo Light Station is a California State Historic Park occupying a headland on the Mendocino Coast between Mendocino village and Fort Bragg. Visitors walk a half-mile downhill from the parking area to explore the restored Light Station buildings. The active lighthouse contains the original Chance Brothers classic 3rd order Fresnel lens and offers lens tours allowing visitors to climb to the top. The 1st Assistant Lightkeeper's House operates as a period museum displaying a lightkeeper's residence from the 1930s. The restored Blacksmith and Carpentry Shop houses a Marine Science Exhibit featuring a 240-gallon saltwater aquarium. The main floor of the lighthouse, the 1st Assistant Lightkeeper's House, and the Marine Science Exhibit are open to visitors daily. The park also features a restored Kearn farmhouse and three restored storage buildings. Visitors can observe gray whale migration during spring months from this scenic coastal location. Dogs are permitted on the main lighthouse floor and throughout the park on leashes.
