The Little River Improvement Club & Museum occupies an 1885 Good Templars Hall built from old growth redwood planks and features one of only two dome ceilings in Mendocino County. Visitors take self-guided tours exploring regional history from Albion and Whitesboro to Big River. Exhibits include Coast Pioneers, featuring 1880s photographs; a Pioneer Cemetery with individual headstones; Northern Pomo Life with a free Pomo trail map and recordings of the spoken Pomo language; Mendocino Woodlands National Historic Landmark and State Park; Local Wildlife with a hands-on exhibit; Trains and Toys; and Logging and the Late 1800s. The museum houses a genealogy collection and library. Visitors may explore pioneer diary transcripts, journal and letter transcriptions dating from the 1840s including Civil War letters. Puzzles in excellent condition are available. The museum is located in Mendocino County, California, and operates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
