About Lemon Grove Historical Society & Parsonage Museum

The Lemon Grove Parsonage Museum occupies a redwood Folk Victorian building originally constructed in 1897 as the city's first church, the Atherton Chapel. Visitors step back into early Lemon Grove through permanent displays and rotating exhibits exploring the town's history when lemon orchards and packing houses formed the economic foundation. The museum transports guests to a time before computers and cell phones, showing how residents lived during the region's agricultural era. The Historical Society renovated the structure between 1997 and 1999, receiving a 2001 Governor's Historic Preservation Award for the project. The museum operates in Treganza Heritage Park in Lemon Grove, California, and welcomes visitors on Saturdays as well as by appointment for tour groups and classes during weekdays.
