San Diego Zoo Safari Park offers a Balloon Safari tethered helium balloon that rises 400 feet above the park's grounds, modeled after Serengeti hot air balloon tours. Visitors spend 10 to 12 minutes in the sky viewing the Safari Park from above, with flights available from 9 a.m. to noon for optimal conditions, and approximate hours extending to dusk. The park charges admission with four published price tiers, and tickets are sold online through the venue's site. Beyond the balloon experience, the Safari Park features safaris, activities, youth programs, dining, and shopping across its grounds in Escondido, California. Children receive free admission during October, with the site listing the promotion through October 31. A 2-Visit Pass saves up to $26 and allows two visits to the Safari Park, the San Diego Zoo, or one of each. Weather may close the Balloon Safari temporarily.
