Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown, California preserves the history of the Sierra Railway with vintage steam and diesel locomotives, a working roundhouse, and the Sierra Railway Shops, a designated California Historical Landmark. Visitors explore the historic state park grounds and ride the Mother Lode Cannonball excursion trains through scenic Gold Country. The park features historic railway passenger cars and a working roundhouse where visitors can watch Sierra Railway No. 3 being steamed up through hostling tours. Special events include Tales of the Roundhouse, a program of historical stories, and seasonal celebrations. The grounds are fully accessible to persons with disabilities, though certain exhibits and train rides have limited accessibility due to historic features. Free parking is available onsite in two lots. The park is open daily with varying hours by season.
