About Amador County Museum
The Amador County Museum in Jackson preserves and displays artifacts from the region's gold rush history dating to 1848. Visitors explore exhibits housed in a historic two-story home on Court House Hill, where the Amador County Historical Society maintains collections of historical paper, photographs, ephemera and artifacts documenting local heritage. The museum operates a mine model exhibit that visitors can tour. The grounds feature additional buildings including a cottage that serves as the Historical Society office. A planned Livery Building will house freight and buckboard wagons, carriages, buggies, blacksmithing tools and other historic equipment currently stored in a deteriorating structure. The museum is open on a regular basis and operated by the Amador County Historical Society with volunteer support.
