About Sacramento Valley Museum

The Sacramento Valley Museum displays the region's rich history through mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth century artifacts, textiles, and documents. Visitors explore multiple rooms of exhibits representing the Sacramento Valley's natural and multicultural heritage from prehistoric times to the present. The museum itself occupies a 16,000 square foot building constructed in 1911 that originally served as Williams Union High School. Local volunteers transformed the dormant structure into a museum that opened to the public in 1964. The building's historical significance parallels the collections it now houses, creating a setting where the area's development comes alive through carefully preserved materials and research resources. Group and private tours are available by appointment. General admission is free. The museum is located at 1491 E Street in Williams, California.
