The Sacramento Valley Museum displays the region's rich history through mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth century artifacts, textiles, and documents. Visitors explore multiple rooms of exhibits representing the Sacramento Valley's natural and multicultural heritage from prehistoric times to the present. The museum itself occupies a 16,000 square foot building constructed in 1911 that originally served as Williams Union High School. Local volunteers transformed the dormant structure into a museum that opened to the public in 1964. The building's historical significance parallels the collections it now houses, creating a setting where the area's development comes alive through carefully preserved materials and research resources.
