About Anderson Marsh Interpretive Association

Anderson Marsh Interpretive Association operates guided nature walks and ranch house tours at Anderson Marsh State Historic Park in Lower Lake. Visitors hike through 1,065 acres of protected habitat including freshwater marsh, oak woodland, grasslands, and riparian woodland. The park preserves 540 acres of tule marsh that provides wildlife habitat and hosts one of the largest Great Blue Heron rookeries on Clear Lake. Monthly guided nature walks led by State Parks interpretive specialists and volunteer docents allow visitors to observe wildlife and learn about the area's natural and cultural history and geology. Historic Anderson Ranch House and Barn tours are offered following certain walks. The park also contains archeological sites of the Southeastern Pomo people dating back at least 10,000 years. A trail system remains open during daylight hours for hiking and bird watching. The park sits at the southeast corner of Clear Lake where Cache Creek forms, between Lower Lake and Clearlake on Highway 53.
