Taylor Observatory in Kelseyville features the Norton Planetarium, where visitors watch full-dome shows narrated by professional actors and explore astronomy through immersive presentations. The Resident Astronomer hosts stargazing sessions before and after planetarium shows, weather permitting, allowing guests to look through professional-grade telescopes. Programming includes productions such as Dynamic Earth, which explores Earth's climate system, The Exploration of Mars, documenting fifty years of spacecraft missions to the Red Planet, and From Earth to the Universe, a thirty-minute voyage through space produced by the European Southern Observatory. The Lake County Office of Education sponsors field trips and classes where K-12 students engage with hands-on astronomy and STEAM curriculum using the observatory's telescopic resources. The facility also supports college-bound students through scholarships and grants in astronomy and STEAM fields, as well as career resources connecting students with opportunities at NASA and private space companies.
