Gilman Historic Ranch and Wagon Museum in Banning preserves late 1800s California history, from Cahuilla Indian culture through the exploration and settlement of southern California and the San Gorgonio Pass. The site evolved from an adobe hut to a stage stop and general store, eventually becoming an expansive ranch house. The museum now houses the Inland Empire's largest public collection of wagons, buggies, and stagecoaches. The 100-acre property features a 1.5-mile hiking trail, seasonal creek, beautiful gardens, fruit orchard, and open grass areas. Visitors can picnic at built-in BBQ grills, use the gazebo and front porch, or explore the grounds. The ranch accommodates special events including weddings, graduations, and celebrations of life. Guided tours are available for groups. The historic site operates in Banning and offers a tranquil setting to experience California's frontier heritage.
