The Vincent Price Art Museum in Monterey Park showcases contemporary artists with roots in Los Angeles alongside ancient artworks. Visitors explore the permanent exhibition Form and Function in the Ancient Americas, which features cultures from the Nayarit-Jalisco-Colima region of West Mexico dating from 2000 to 1000 BCE through the Chimú of Peru from 900 to 1500 CE. The museum presents rotating contemporary exhibitions and hosts opening receptions with artist performances. Recent programming has included live performances exploring identity and cultural intersection, traditional Cambodian dance performances, and blessing ceremonies. The museum welcomes visitors to actively witness, interact, and engage with artworks at their own comfort level. Located in Monterey Park, California, the museum is free and open to the public, offering a distinctive collection of ancient American artifacts and innovative contemporary art by Los Angeles-based artists.
Admission is free. The venue says: “Admission is free.”
