The Hermosa Beach Historical Society & Museum preserves and presents the history of Hermosa Beach through exhibitions, programs, and events. Visitors explore online and in-person exhibitions featuring photographs, objects, and archival materials documenting the community's past. Current exhibitions include "Easy Reader's Hermosa Beach: 2000 to 2010 in Photos," featuring work by over twenty photographers from the local newspaper capturing moments from that decade, and "Going to the Movies: The Story of the Bijou Theater," which examines the 1923 Bijou Theater—originally called the Metropolitan—and its role in South Bay cinema history. The museum offers Museum Lectures, exhibition previews, and programs for school children and the wider South Bay community. The organization welcomes volunteers and members who support its mission to increase operating hours and expand educational programming. Located in Hermosa Beach, California, the museum serves as a community resource for understanding local history and culture.
