About Monterey Museum of Art

Monterey Museum of Art operates two locations, with the La Mirada site featuring galleries and programs in a historic estate with rose gardens located at 720 Via Mirada. Visitors to the museum view American and California paintings, photography, and contemporary art across rotating exhibitions. The institution hosts Sketching in the Galleries sessions, Exhibition Insights Tours, and First Friday events, all included with admission. Educational programming, group tours, and family activities are available through the learning department. The La Mirada location, originally a Mexican-period adobe later remodeled as a silent-film-era residence, includes the Dart wing designed by architect Charles Moore in 1994. The site accommodates on-site parking and serves as a rental venue for events. In La Mirada, California, bicyclists receive 50 percent off general admission on Thursdays upon presenting a helmet, reducing the regular $15 admission price to $7.50, according to montereyart.org.
