The Hamilton Museum & Ranch Foundation in Anza preserves the history of the local mountain communities before paved roads and electricity arrived in the 1950s. Visitors explore the past through old photographs, documents, artifacts, and a restored Contreras House homestead. The museum examines how Cahuilla people and early settlers lived in the Aguanga, Anza, Garner Valley, Lake Riverside, Pinyon, and Terwilliger areas. Four main areas of the property offer distinct exhibits covering early settlers, farming and ranching, early entertainment, and Cahuilla culture. The museum also features the NPS Anza Expedition history and scenic photographs of the region. Community organizations use the museum for research and education, while students perform community service there. The Hamilton Museum & Ranch Foundation, established in 2002, hosts twice-yearly arts and crafts fairs and educational events throughout the year.
