About Fort Jones Museum

Fort Jones Museum is a local history museum in Fort Jones, California that displays hundreds of artifacts depicting the lives of Native American tribes, trappers, miners, pioneers, and soldiers from Scott Valley and western Siskiyou County. The 2500-square-foot interior features one of the finest basket collections in northern California, along with a rare and sacred White Deerskin, vintage guns and swords, war memorabilia organized by era, and newly organized Native American displays including trade beads. Outside, visitors see a Shasta Rain Rock and a wall incorporating obsidian, fossils, a cannonball, mill stones including ones from historic flour mills, and Native American mortar and pestles. The Carriage House, located nearby, preserves vintage and antique wheeled vehicles, carriages, buggies, and vintage farm equipment. New seasonal displays feature photographs of Scott Valley's historic schools and mining camps with location maps, plus Lodge and Parlor regalia and the original Articles of Incorporation for the Town of Fort Jones.
