Siskiyou County Museum preserves the history of Siskiyou County through displays highlighting the people, places, and events from prehistoric times through pioneer settlement. Visitors explore indoor galleries and a 2½ acre outdoor museum featuring early transportation vehicles, historic machinery, and recreated buildings that illustrate regional development. The museum's collection and exhibits interpret how settlement shaped the region over time. The venue was featured on the Travel Channel show "Mysteries at the Museum" in an episode about the State of Jefferson. Located at 910 S Main Street in Yreka, the museum opens Tuesday through Saturday with published hours available on its website. Admission is charged, with children five years or younger admitted free. Adults and children ages six through twelve pay separate admission rates listed on the museum's site at co.siskiyou.ca.us.
