The Patterson House Museum is a brick residence built in 1891 in Winchester, California, that visitors tour to learn about the pioneering Patterson family and early community history. The 30-by-30-foot house, the oldest private residence still standing in Winchester, is owned and operated by the Winchester Historical Society of Pleasant Valley. Displays document the family's major contributions to the region, including John Patterson's work as a land owner, general store owner, blacksmith, tinsmith, and part owner of the local brick works whose bricks built the Winchester Community United Methodist Church and Winchester School. Visitors learn about his daughter Tilla Patterson Hudson, who served 39 years as a Santa Fe Railroad station agent and became California's longest-serving female Wells Fargo agent. The museum also highlights Clarence Patterson's roles as blacksmith, grain miller, and Justice of the Peace, and references the pepper trees Maria Patterson planted from seeds gathered during the family's 1883 journey from Yountville.
