About Trinidad Museum

The Trinidad Museum occupies the restored Sangster-Watkins-Underwood home, a historic house featuring five exhibit rooms near the entrance to Trinidad off Patricks Point Drive. Visitors explore exhibits on Yurok traditions, European contact with the Tsurai Village people, the Gold Rush, Trinidad's maritime past, local commerce, schools, and natural history. The museum displays current exhibits including Shaped & Woven, showcasing stone, fiber and beadwork, Trinidad Whaling history, and vintage postcards from the Steve Lazar Collection in the Photography Room. Flourishing native plant and historic gardens surround the building. The Trinidad Museum Society was founded to preserve and interpret Trinidad area history, highlighting the region's rich cultural and natural heritage between Big Lagoon and the Little River on California's north coast.
