About Western Railway Museum

The Western Railway Museum in Suisun City preserves Northern California's electric railroad heritage through 50-minute scenic train rides and exhibits of more than 50 historic rail cars. Visitors ride the 11-mile round trip along the Sacramento Northern Railway through Solano County farmland with views of Mount Diablo and marshlands. The operating fleet includes streetcars and interurban cars dating back 80 to 110 years, many from San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, and other West Coast communities. Carhouse 1 displays nearly century-old local streetcars in an open-air building, while the indoor Carhouse 3 houses significant collection pieces. Guided tours of the carhouses are available at select times. The museum also operates a library and archives open on select Saturdays, featuring railroad history books and films. The 22-acre grounds include picnic areas, a museum store, and a café.
