About Pittsburg Historical Museum

The Pittsburg Historical Museum, established in 1961, preserves and exhibits the history of Pittsburg through collections of photographs, memorabilia, and artifacts donated by members of the community's early pioneer families. The museum building itself is a recreation hall originally from the old Los Medanos oil pumping station, donated by the Standard Oil Company in 1963. Visitors explore exhibits and archives housed within the museum's historic walls, viewing photographs, documents, and donated items that chronicle the area's development. The collection began as a modest display of historical photographs at Klein's department store and grew into a permanent repository of local heritage.
