The Rancho de Guadalupe Historical Society Museum preserves the cultural and economic history of Guadalupe, California, spanning over 150 years from a Mexican land grant of 1840 through the city's incorporation in 1946. Visitors explore a growing collection of early photographs depicting pioneers and enterprises that shaped the area, along with artifacts from adobe structures no longer standing. The museum displays items representing the European, Chinese, Filipino, Swiss-Italian, Japanese, Mexican, Portuguese, and Spanish cultures that arrived as the Native American Chumash population declined. A reference library containing nearly 200 volumes covers regional history topics ranging from early automobiles to shipwrecks and local heritage. Notable exhibits include an extensive album documenting a Guadalupe widow's 1936 steamship voyage to Japan, China, and Hong Kong, plus her detailed 1937 European tour through Mediterranean ports, Central Europe, and the British Isles, along with subsequent travel records from 1938 and 1939. The museum operates in Guadalupe, California, housed in a corner of the Veterans' Memorial building.
