The Central Coast Aquarium in Avila Beach features 14 exhibits across two rooms showcasing marine life native to the central California coast. The Exhibit Hall displays over 75 local species, including an octopus exhibit, with volunteer staff providing education about the animals and habitats on view. An oceanfront location offers views of Avila Beach while visitors explore the collection. Beyond permanent exhibits, the aquarium offers school programs including onsite field trips, the Floating Lab boat tour program, and Tidepools On Tour. Seasonal camps for children are available during spring and summer months. The facility also hosts community events, science seminars, birthday parties, and weddings. Additional programs include children and family offerings, homeschool programs, and live stream events. The aquarium operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to marine science education, with all proceeds supporting educational initiatives.
