About Point San Luis Lighthouse

Point San Luis Lighthouse stands on a bluff overlooking San Luis Bay in Avila Beach, California. Visitors reach the lighthouse by hiking the Pecho Coast Trail, a moderate scenic route that takes a little more than an hour from Port San Luis. The trail passes through coastal terrain with views of the port, Avila Beach, and nearby towns before arriving at the lighthouse. Docent-led tours of the lighthouse are available for an additional fee. The Pecho Coast Trail is managed by the Pecho Coast Trail Guides and requires accompanied hikers; the trail operates on Wednesdays and Saturdays with an 8:45 AM start time. Children must be at least nine years old. The lighthouse also hosts a concert series and Victorian-themed luncheon events for groups of six guests or fewer. Hikers should wear appropriate shoes and bring a water bottle.
