The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden near the Pacific Ocean on the Central Coast showcases Mediterranean plant species through displays and educational programs. Visitors explore gardens during daylight hours and may purchase plants from the adjacent nursery, which features more than 75 types of drought-tolerant species including succulents, Peruvian lily, and Adenanthos sericeus. Many plants are propagated by volunteers in on-site greenhouses. The garden hosts seasonal plant sales curating larger assortments of drought-tolerant plants from both greenhouses and local growers. Offered programs include fused glass classes, nature-focused workshops on topics such as lichens and birding, and astronomy nights with the Central Coast Astronomical Society. A gift shop and library serve visitors, and leashed dogs are welcome. The garden's mission centers on expanding community connections to Mediterranean regions through experience, education, and conservation. Located in San Luis Obispo, California, the botanical garden operates daily during daylight hours.
