About Morro Bay State Park
Morro Bay State Park is a coastal park featuring the iconic Morro Rock, an estuary, volcanic peaks, and a campground where visitors hike, kayak, birdwatch, and view wildlife. The Morro Bay Museum of Natural History sits within the park, 500 feet from the campground and marina parking lot entrance, with a gift shop on site. The museum and gift shop operate daily from 10am to 5pm, while the park itself opens at 6am. A Junior Ranger Program runs at the museum for younger visitors. Dogs are allowed on leash in permitted areas; visitors should stay on trails to avoid poison oak and ticks. The park accommodates trailers and motorhomes up to 35 feet.
