About Needles Regional Museum
Needles Regional Museum displays artifacts from the Needles region in one large room located across the street from the El Garces Harvey House. Visitors explore exhibits covering local history, the Santa Fe Railroad, Route 66, and the Harvey House itself. The museum features historical photographs, Mojave Indian beadwork, and pottery representing the native cultural heritage of the area. The museum also operates an adjacent thrift store. Exhibits document how Needles developed in 1883 through the efforts of the Atlantic & Pacific Railroad, Southern Pacific Railroad, and Santa Fe Railroad along the 35th Parallel transcontinental line. The El Garces Train Depot and Hotel across the street, built in 1908, represents the Harvey House chain that once served railroad travelers. The museum, powered by volunteers, operates Monday through Saturday with limited summer hours. Visitors may call for appointments outside regular operating times.
