Sky's The Limit Observatory and Nature Center in Twentynine Palms is a nonprofit facility dedicated to hands-on learning about the desert, earth, and sky. Visitors observe celestial objects through telescopes in the observatory dome, including views through a large scope managed by volunteer astronomers. The campus features an Orrery, a true-to-scale model of the Solar System at a scale of 20 billion to 1, which docents present on Saturday mornings alongside safe solar viewing through a solar scope. The nature trail invites exploration of desert wildlife and plant life. The facility hosts monthly educational programs and stargazing sessions led by volunteer astronomers and botanists. Most programs occur outdoors under the desert sky on bleachers and benches. Visitors may bring their own telescopes and cameras. The campus welcomes self-guided tours using the virtual campus tour, and remains open to the public during day hours and most nights.
