The Twentynine Palms Historical Society operates the Old Schoolhouse Museum complex, the oldest public building in the Morongo Basin. Visitors experience a 1920s-era schoolroom and view artifacts and historical exhibits that document the culture and history of Twentynine Palms and the greater Morongo Basin. The museum and gift shop are housed in this historic structure on the grounds. The Research Library contains extensive collections of historical materials and is open to the public for research purposes. The complex also includes Founders Hall, a multipurpose building, and a small garage that houses the Hastie Bus. The Society presents educational activities including field trips, lectures, and special events such as the Annual Weed Show. A quarterly newsletter keeps members informed about upcoming programs. Founded in 1982 by five individuals committed to preserving community heritage, the organization operates as a nonprofit educational institution in Twentynine Palms, California.
Admission is free. The venue says: “Admission is free; however, donations are always appreciated.”
Hours: Wed-Sun 1-4 p.m. (Sept-May); Fri-Sun 1-4 p.m. (June-Aug)
