About Heritage Museum
The Colfax Heritage Museum occupies the refurbished Colfax Passenger Depot and explores the history of the Colfax area through its collections and exhibits. Visitors browse books about local history, train memorabilia, and other displays housed within the restored building. The museum shop sells books about regional history, train memorabilia, t-shirts, and gift items. Coffee and biscotti are available for purchase on-site. The depot stands at the railroad crossing in downtown Colfax, marked by a statue of Schuyler Colfax on the south side of Grass Valley Street. The location sits approximately fifty miles northeast of Sacramento, accessible from the Colfax off-ramp on Interstate 80. The museum serves visitors interested in learning about local heritage and the region's railroad history through its collections and research programs.
