About Millbrae Museum

The Millbrae History Museum occupies an 1895 house originally built by the Spring Valley Water Company as a residence for its manager. Volunteers relocated and restored the structure to its original condition, furnishing it with period pieces and historical exhibits. Inside, well-organized displays feature numerous photographs, artifacts, period furniture, and historical documents depicting Millbrae's past and the surrounding area's development. Volunteer docents staff the museum and explain the exhibits while answering questions about local history. The Millbrae Historical Society, which operates the museum, plans future expansion with a 3,500 square foot pavilion to display larger holdings including a nineteenth-century surrey, a horse-drawn carriage, and a 1932 Millbrae Fire Truck. The museum is located across from the Millbrae Library in Millbrae, California, and welcomes visitors who wish to explore the town's heritage through its carefully preserved collections and knowledgeable guides.
