About Buena Vista Museum of Natural History & Science

Buena Vista Museum of Natural History & Science in downtown Bakersfield houses exhibits covering anatomy, astronomy, archeology, anthropology, biology, geology and paleontology. Visitors explore fossil collections, including material from Shark Tooth Hill, examine rock and mineral specimens, and participate in programs such as school tours and specialized classes. The museum hosts a rock, mineral and fossil sale and offers educational resources through its teacher's corner. Active duty military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve members and their families, receive free admission. Visitors with valid EBT cards presenting photo identification receive discounted admission at two dollars per person for up to four individuals per card.
