Bakersfield Museum of Art, founded in 1956, displays rotating exhibitions of California art alongside its permanent collection of paintings, photography, sculpture, and works on paper from the 20th century to the present. Visitors tour galleries, attend exhibit tours, explore the sculpture garden, and participate in educational programs including Summer Art Camp for children ages 2–17. The museum hosts Second Saturday Family Days with docent tours and art projects, First Friday events with extended hours, and Art After Dark gatherings. Free admission is available to currently serving military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve; the site listed it through September 7. Free admission for up to four individuals per SNAP EBT card is also offered.
