The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art in Downtown SLO brings together visitors of all ages and abilities to experience rotating exhibitions of contemporary art. The brightly colored museum sits in Mission Plaza next to San Luis Obispo Creek on the corner of Broad Street and Monterey Street. Current exhibitions include work by Alicia Adamerovich, Marcie Begleiter, and Bunnie Reiss, with artist talks available for many shows. Visitors can join public docent-led tours held every Saturday at 11 AM for an overview of the art on display, while schools and groups can arrange private tours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The museum shop offers exhibition catalogs, mural prints, handmade jewelry by local artists, children's books, posters, and DVDs. The museum opens Thursday through Monday from 11 AM to 5 PM and is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays except for reserved group tours.
