About Central Coast Veterans Memorial
The Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum in San Luis Obispo honors veterans and preserves military history through authentic historical exhibits. Visitors explore artifacts, documents, photographs, firearms, and uniforms spanning multiple war eras, including World War I and World War II collections. The museum's permanent displays showcase the military history of the United States and the sacrifices of those who served. The facility also features special rotating exhibits, such as displays on perilous military conflicts and natural disasters at sea. The museum hosts programs including exhibit talks with Navy veterans sharing firsthand accounts of their service experiences. An annual Memorial Day ceremony takes place outside at the Veterans Memorial Building, featuring presentations by the Sea Cadets Color Guard and patriotic music. The museum also participates in the Library of Congress Veterans History Project, having recorded over 500 veteran stories since 2002. Located at the SLO Vets Hall, the museum educates visitors of all ages about Central Coast veterans' contributions and sacrifice.
