About Texas Seaport Museum

The Texas Seaport Museum centers on the ELISSA, an 1877 tall ship designated a National Historic Landmark and one of America's Treasures by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Visitors walk the ship's decks to experience life aboard a sailing vessel that crossed the world's oceans, then explore the adjacent museum galleries and theater to learn the ELISSA's dramatic rescue from the scrap yard and subsequent restoration. The museum provides self-guided tours through both the tall ship and indoor exhibits, along with access to the Galveston Immigration Database. The ELISSA's decks, officers' quarters, and galley are open to explore, as are the museum's galleries. A theater presentation tells the ship's story. The museum operates in Galveston, Texas, and charges admission with published prices for adults and youth, while children five and under enter free.
