About The League-Kempner House

The League-Kempner House is a Victorian mansion in Galveston undergoing restoration by a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving this architectural treasure designed by noted architect Nicholas Clayton. Visitors take walk-up self-guided tours with audio narration or docent-led tours through the house, viewing the period rooms and architectural details. Docent-led tours are also available for groups of five or more persons by appointment outside regular hours. Special interest tours led by local historians incorporate stories about historic events and people related to Galveston. The organization operates as a historic house museum and plans to offer restoration workshops, age-appropriate educational activities for school groups, and access to historic documents and photographs related to the League and Kempner families. Visitors can follow the restoration progress on the organization's YouTube channel.
