The Galveston Railroad Museum occupies the restored Santa Fe Building, a 1913 passenger station, and invites visitors to tour historic railcars and experience the golden age of American railroading. Guests can climb aboard vintage train cars, including a dining car where lunch is served, and ride in a bright red caboose. The museum features a train engineer simulator and the Garden of Steam, where visitors ring a bell while exploring locomotives and passenger equipment. The permanent collection showcases the history of railroads in Texas and nationally, with rotating exhibits, presentations, and speakers. The museum also hosts The Polar Express train ride experience and offers a Rail Hotel where guests sleep on a vintage train lounge car. Special programs serve student groups, seniors, and visitors with special needs. As a nonprofit educational organization, the museum preserves local railroad heritage.
