The Sachse Historical Society Museum preserves local heritage through exhibits and restored artifacts housed in a former police building. Visitors explore collections including a Larkin Company chest of drawers, sandwich griller, ice tongs, ice shaver, cross slat trunk, and stereoscope that illuminate daily life in earlier decades. The museum courtyard features a bell tower constructed from bricks salvaged from the original Copper Roof House built in the 1890s where founder William Sachse lived. An adjoining restored 1948 Ahren-Fox Fire Truck allows visitors to climb into the driver's seat and experience this piece of local railroad and emergency services history. The museum also maintains a Union Pacific Caboose, originally salvaged from Longview, which opened for tours after extensive restoration work. The society regularly hosts special programs and annual meetings featuring speakers on local railroad history. Located in Sachse, Texas, the museum opens on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, with group tours available by appointment.
Hours: 2nd and 4th Saturdays 11-3pm
