About Allen Heritage Village

Allen Heritage Village preserves and showcases Allen's history through restored buildings relocated to a village setting in the city's old residential area. Visitors walk through the park to view and learn about these structures via interpretive exhibits. The centerpiece is the First Christian Church, notable for its larger size and unique architecture, positioned at the heart of the village with a U-shaped driveway connecting it to St. Mary Drive. An east-to-west walkway frames the locations of other village structures. St. Mary Baptist Church, restored in 2002, originally served dual purposes as both a school and church for Allen's African American population. The village includes two bungalow houses alongside the churches. Exterior restorations of the First Christian Church and bungalows were completed in 2008. The project, developed by the City of Allen in cooperation with the Allen Heritage Guild beginning in 2002, transforms historic homes and outbuildings into an accessible museum of local heritage in Allen, Texas.
