About Interurban Railway Museum

The Interurban Railway Museum in historic downtown Plano features interactive exhibits on electricity, science, and local history centered on the Texas Electric Railway system. Visitors tour Historic Car 360, a restored railway car that illustrates how the interurban rail network shaped the region. The museum operates two major off-site exhibits at the Shops at Willow Bend: Home Runs & Heartaches traces baseball's connection to the railway, showing how trains made games accessible to fans across Texas, while Growing Plains covers Native American heritage and Plano's population growth after the 1960s. Every Friday, Motorman Harold leads story time for preschoolers and parents at 11:00 a.m., followed by tours of Historic Car 360. School groups, daycares, and senior centers can arrange guided educational tours. Families and groups under ten are welcome to visit during regular hours in Plano's historic downtown arts district.
