About Havens Homestead

Havens Homestead is a historic house museum in Center Moriches, New York, where visitors tour a dwelling that dates to 1740 and was substantially remodeled in 1898. The homestead preserves the residence of John Scudder and Mary Pelletreau Havens, showcasing architectural elements from both the original colonial structure and the later American shingle-style renovation that brought modernizations at the turn of the century. The site is supported by a gift shop located in the adjacent Tuttle Farm barn. The Moriches Bay Historical Society operates the homestead as part of its mission to collect and preserve artifacts and history of the surrounding area. The property is fully handicapped accessible. Visitors interested in local Long Island history and early American domestic architecture will find the homestead and its grounds in the hamlet of Center Moriches on the South Shore, situated near Moriches Bay.
