About Jay Heritage Center

Jay Heritage Center is a 23-acre estate in Rye where visitors explore the preserved home of Founding Father John Jay through tours of the 1838 Greek Revival mansion, gardens, and grounds. The landscape features sunken gardens, meadows, orchards, and a native tree arboretum with views of Long Island Sound. Archaeological evidence shows 10,000 years of habitation by the Wickquasgeck people. The Fall Family Festival offers live music, pony rides, face painting, art demonstrations, origami, hayrides, a petting zoo, guided tours, scavenger hunts, and geocaching. Jay Estate Gardens are open select days for self-guided tours, and the Bloomberg Connects app provides information about property features. The site retains stone walls, British artifacts, and original colonial structural elements.
